TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

our system, patented in 1988

The electrostatic system is essentially composed of:

  • An electrostatic pulse generator.
  • Active electrostatic lines conducting impulses installed to protect each architectural element, consisting of 2 rods or rod/flat (positive and negative poles) strictly made of stainless steel AISI 316 L.
  • Mini polycarbonate isolators used to space and support the installed active electrostatic lines.
  • Interconnection electrostatic lines that serially connect individual active electrostatic lines and the entire system to the electrostatic pulse generator. The interconnection lines are made with bipolar strips isolated between the two conductors and towards ground for a test voltage of 15,000 Volts (maximum operating voltage: 6,000 peak volts).

The mini-isolators that support and space the active electrostatic lines are fixed to the architectural surface adopting, depending on the cases and admitted possibilities, four different solutions:

  • Fastening with lead or Fischer expansion anchors and stainless steel AISI 316 L screws, possibly sealed with reversible two-component epoxy resins.
  • Fastening with welding points in the case of metallic architectural supports.
  • Fastening on frames protected by sheets of copper (lead or other metals) using strips of the same material through a brazing process.
  • Fastening with reversible two-component epoxy resins or polymer-based adhesives on sculptures, decorations, and all architectural surfaces of high artistic value.

In conclusion, we highlight the distinctive elements that make the patented "Ettore Galliani" Electrostatic System unique and inimitable:

  • Even when installed on metal structures, our system is always made with 2 conductors (positive and negative poles), not grounding the negative on the metal structures themselves and therefore not installing only the positive conductor. This is because the safe operation of the system cannot be guaranteed with only the positive conductor, as the continuity of electrostatic conductivity of the structures, even if metallic, is not ensured. This also applies to works in marble or stone blocks because stones are not sufficiently good conductors.
  • Our electrostatic conductors are exclusively made of AISI 316 L stainless steel elements, ensuring absolute corrosion resistance over time even in the presence of the most violent atmospheric agents, both acidic and salty.
  • Our mini-isolators are made with high dielectric rigidity insulating materials and added with molecular filters to prevent them from polymerizing and becoming fragile under the action of ultraviolet rays.
  • The rod conductors are not fixed to the mini-isolators with screws or through rigid locks, but with clips to ensure the possibility of sliding, avoiding internal mechanical tensions that could cause harmful fractures over time.
  • To ensure the electrostatic continuity of the circuits formed by various plant sectors, our rods are joined to each other to form the entire bipolar network of the system only by means of on-site welds, one by one (and there are hundreds!), with specific electrodes for AISI 316 L stainless steel. We will never use joints with screws or locking sleeves, as these types of joints, while certainly more economical, cannot safely guarantee the perfect functionality of the system over the years (in this case, we could no longer provide our valid warranties). It should be noted that out of the hundreds of welds that can make up a system, if only one fails over time, the operation of the entire system is compromised.
  • The same considerations apply to the joints between the stainless steel rods of the electrostatic lines and the mini copper conductors of the interconnections. In this case, the problem of joints is even more delicate due to the fragility of the bimetallic contact (steel - copper). We use brazing processes; we will never use clamps with screws or other fasteners that could be precarious even if certainly cheaper.
  • The mini conductors of the interconnections are isolated from each other and towards ground for a voltage of 15,000 Volts, in compliance with the law.
  • The electrostatic pulse generator is internationally equipped with a double-insulated input transformer (compliant insulation transformer) as an absolute safety guarantee against any malfunctions.
